Recap of “The Last Call” (Season 3, Episode 9)

If you were curious about whether Berry made it onto her flight to Paris, the latest episode quickly fills in those details. Rather than flying, she considers walking to Conrad. There’s a determination to not repeat mistakes from past experiences. Surprisingly, she boards the plane with a packed schedule. Earlier, the study abroad program hinted that she was overlooked late at night, leaving her questioning her plans. Before the plane lands, she carefully stashes her engagement ring in a backpack for safekeeping, ready for new adventures.

However, her arrival in Paris is far from ideal. During immigration, she accidentally drops the air tag meant to track her belongings, and the ring proves to be a distraction when questioned about her reasons for being in France. Upon reaching the school for registration, she learns the promised opportunity doesn’t exist, leaving the staff just as astonished that she traveled all the way from the US.

Feeling dejected, she returns home and reaches out to Laurel, crying about how everything has spiraled out of control. While Laurel attempts to encourage her to embrace new experiences, she can’t help but worry about her daughter’s emotional state. Ultimately, Laurel suggests that Berry should return home rather than force herself into an uncomfortable situation even if it means missing friends and Finch. As Taylor Swift’s song plays, it underscores Berry’s feelings of isolation yet hints at her resilience.

Following Laurel’s advice, Berry uses her mother’s credit card to book a return flight. While sitting at a café, contemplating her life choices, she stands to settle her tab, only to discover her backpack has vanished. Among her concerns, losing her engagement ring weighs the heaviest on her mind.

Fortunately, she has the air tag and tracks the backpack across the city, leading her to an underground club that requires a password to enter. Once inside, she helps a British girl named Gemma escape a troublesome situation, and in gratitude, Gemma invites Berry to a party. Berry’s heart races as she finally finds her backpack. Confronting a thief who initially tries to deny ownership, she retrieves her wedding dress, proving its theft to onlookers and causing the thief to retreat under pressure.

Gemma’s friends are impressed and invite Berry to stay for drinks. She shares her story, and rather than passing judgment, they encourage her to reconsider her decision to return home. Although she has a flight booked for later, she delays her departure to enjoy their company. One of the guys seems particularly interested in her, hinting at potential developments in the future.

Meanwhile, Jeremiah is in a rough spot following a night out. Surrounded by friends, he struggles with various emotions and navigates the complexities of relationships. He hints at potential romantic feelings for Redbird, though his own situation is far from stable, especially with Stephen still unaware of the events that transpired in Cabo.

As Stephen confronts the aftermath of those events, the tension escalates when he crosses paths with Conrad at a bar. He labels Conrad a “vulture” and demands he leaves. Taylor gives Conrad a bit of leeway, sharing Berry’s need for space, which complicates matters further.

The next day begins with Jeremiah nursing a hangover, while Stephen and Taylor split up their duties to care for him. Laurel comes to check on Jeremiah, but he shuts the door on her. He feels unjustly judged, believing Laurel disapproves of his relationship with Berry.

Stephen continues to confront Conrad about his influence on Jeremiah, emphasizing that what his cousin needs is support, not more drama. Although Conrad made an effort to prepare a care package for Jeremiah, he chooses to ignore it. This interaction illustrates the ongoing tension and emotional turmoil among the group.

As the episode progresses, Taylor helps Stephen articulate his feelings, leading to an intimate moment between them. However, they pause to address underlying issues from the past, emphasizing the need for honest communication moving forward. Ultimately, despite the ups and downs, Berry narrates her struggles in Paris, concluding with a sense of hope and resolve, noting that while everything feels uncertain, the possibility of rebuilding always exists.
