Ongoing Investigation into Orleans Justice Center Escape
In a recent update, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Maryl revealed that inmate Trevon Williams has been taken into custody as part of the investigation concerning an escape incident at the Orleans Justice Center. This escape, which occurred on May 16, involved multiple inmates fleeing from the facility.
Williams was already incarcerated when the escape happened. Authorities are preparing to bring more charges against him related to this event, although they haven’t specified what his exact involvement might be.
Maryl shared this information on social media, stating that they are committed to uncovering all the details and ensuring accountability for everyone involved in the prison break.
The investigation has already led to the arrest of five individuals accused of being complicit in the escape. Among them, Casey Smith, 30, was arrested for allegedly aiding two of the fugitives by transporting them after their escape. Another suspect, 59-year-old Connie Weeden from Slidell, Louisiana, is charged with being an accessory after the fact. She reportedly had phone contact with one of the escapees, Jermaine Donald, before and after his prison break, and allegedly sent him cash via a mobile app.
Two other women, Colny Harris and Colvantey Baptist, were also arrested for their roles in aiding the escape. Additionally, Stirling Williams, a prison maintenance worker, faces charges for disrupting the water supply in a cell, allowing inmates to remove a toilet and escape through the space behind it. He is currently held on a substantial bond, facing multiple charges.
As the search for the fugitives continues, law enforcement has reminded the public that these individuals are considered armed and dangerous. The following inmates remain at large:
- Renton J. Vanbren Jr., 26, accused of weapons charges and obstructing justice.
- Jermaine Donald, 42, facing serious charges including second-degree murder and aggravated battery.
- Antoine Massey, 32, with charges related to domestic abuse and car theft.
- Derrick Groves, 27, charged with multiple counts of attempted murder and assaults on prison employees.
- Leo O. Tate Sr., 31, facing various charges including robbery and firearm possession.
