NFL Week 9 Previews and Trade Rumors
As Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season kicks off tonight, all eyes are on Lamar Jackson as he leads the Miami Dolphins against the Baltimore Ravens.
However, the bigger story looms—the trade deadline is approaching on Tuesday, November 4th, at 4 PM ET. With that in mind, let’s dive into the latest trade whispers.
49ers and Cowboys Interested in Trey Hendrickson
The season began with Trey Hendrickson tangled in a contract dispute with the Cincinnati Bengals. Although they reached a temporary resolution, the Bengals’ current struggles might allow for a loan move to be considered.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Bengals have turned down trade offers so far, but if they lose to the Chicago Bears this Sunday, they would fall to 3-6. Fowler noted that both the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers are among those interested in Hendrickson. Interestingly, while the 49ers have already traded for Keon White, the Cowboys are in desperate need of reinforcements for their struggling defense.
Potential Trade for Jaguars’ Jarrian Jones
In Jacksonville, Jaguars head coach Liam Cohen has dismissed speculation about trading wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. before the deadline. Yet, another member of last year’s draft class, Jarrian Jones, might be on the trading block.
As reported by ESPN’s Mike DiRocco, Jones, a third-round pick in 2024, has seen his role shrink significantly, playing just one snap during Week 7. With the return of Montarick Brown and the emergence of Travis Hunter Jr., the team could explore trading Jones, potentially for a tight end.
New England Still in the Game
The New England Patriots made headlines by trading former starters Keon White and Kyle Dugger on Tuesday. Despite a solid 6-2 record, it raises the question—are they truly in selling mode?
These trades could stem from changes in the team’s system, as Dugger’s role has diminished significantly, and White has seen less than 30% of defensive snaps this season. Interestingly, White was healthy for last week’s matchup against the Browns.
ESPN’s Mike Reese suggested areas where New England could look to add, including a veteran edge rusher and a running back to fill in for Antonio Gibson, who’s out for the season. The Patriots also have ten draft picks for the upcoming season, which could bolster their chances even further.
Breece Hall and the Jets’ Trade Buzz
Breece Hall, running back for the New York Jets, has been a hot topic ahead of the trade deadline. After their first win of the season last week, the Jets are poised to make moves, likely shopping several players.
They’ve already traded cornerback Michael Carter II for wide receiver John Metchie III. Now, both Hall and Quinnen Williams are drawing attention from other teams. Interestingly, Hall himself seemed to react on social media—does he know something, or is he simply watching the rumors unfold like the rest of us?
Watch for Titans’ Tight End Chigu Okonkwo
The Tennessee Titans, also sitting at 1-7, have already traded cornerback Roger McCleary. Reports indicate that quarterback Cam Ward and defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons may be expendable as well. However, tight end Chigu Okonkwo is particularly drawing interest, especially since it’s the final year of his contract.
While he has shown good chemistry with Ward, rookie Gunnar Helm is starting to take more snaps. This might encourage the Titans to move Okonkwo to make room for Helm. Okonkwo, the only remaining member of the 2022 draft class on the Titans’ roster, leads the team in receptions but understands the business realities of the NFL.
Giants’ Under-the-Radar Players
For the New York Giants, two names to monitor are Evan Neal and Jalin Hyatt. According to analysts at ESPN, both players have been tagged as potential trade candidates. Neal can play both guard and tackle but might not fit into the Giants’ long-term plans.
As for Hyatt, the Giants currently have a gap in their receiving corps due to Malik Nabors’ injury. Ironically, he was a healthy scratch last week, fueling speculation that he could seek a fresh start elsewhere.
AJ Brown’s Future Remains Uncertain
AJ Brown missed Week 8 due to injury but is expected back in action for Week 10. However, there’s still speculation about his future, with some experts suggesting the Eagles may be looking to trade him.
Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk mentioned that the Eagles might be trying to gauge interest without formally initiating discussions. As Philadelphia moves back toward winning form, the fit for Brown in a run-heavy offense is under scrutiny. However, trading him could be complicated due to the substantial salary cap implications that would result from the move.
Dolphins Not Planning Major Changes
As the Dolphins prepare to face the Ravens tonight, there’s chatter about player movements. Still, Jeremy Fowler emphasized that they aren’t “mass sellers” and seem to be taking a more reactive than proactive approach as the deadline looms.
Key players to watch from Miami are pass rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips, although rumors about Jaylen Waddle’s potential trade seem unlikely at this stage.
