Late-Night Hosts Praise Trump for Middle East Peace Efforts

Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel both voiced their approval of President Donald Trump’s role in achieving peace in the Middle East during their recent shows.

Yes, you read that right.

In their monologues, they discussed a significant news piece that garnered worldwide attention. On Monday night, both The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel Live! acknowledged Trump’s “credit where credit is due” regarding the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. However, they didn’t shy away from taking playful jabs at the Republican president, as noted by The Wrap.

Colbert, who recently returned from vacation, touched on various topics, including some Taylor Swift songs, and remarked about missing deadlines by a considerable margin. He also mentioned how the album has been met with “mixed reviews” amid ongoing discussions about the government shutdown.

Then, he shifted gears to Trump’s peace deal.

“It’s not that we didn’t start the fire, but rather everything is on fire,” Colbert quipped, reflecting on the past week. “Today, all living Israeli hostages and nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners were freed thanks to President Trump’s recently brokered ceasefire in Gaza. This is a significant development. Let’s give credit where it’s due—Donald Trump did well.”

He paused to ask the producers offstage, “Is it canceled yet? Seriously? We tried.”

Kimmel echoed Colbert’s surprise regarding Trump’s accomplishments.

“What a day for Donald Trump. He’s finally done something positive. I want to acknowledge that because he isn’t the type to accept praise for his achievements,” Kimmel said.

“We are only at the initial step in what will be a long and intricate process, but the reality is the bombing has ceased. Hostages have been freed,” he added before making a light-hearted dig at Trump.

“And President Trump deserves some credit for that. I know it sounds crazy, but good luck, President Trump. This may not lead to invading Portland, but it’s just a thought.”

As reported, President Trump, alongside about 20 world leaders, demonstrated support for the first phase of a historic peace agreement between Israel and Hamas during a signing ceremony in the Middle East on Monday.

Trump, along with leaders from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, signed the document in Sharm el-Sheikh shortly after delivering a powerful speech to the Knesset in Tel Aviv.

World leaders, including the leaders of Italy, France, and Canada, observed as the four signed the agreement that is intended to foster lasting peace.
