Fundraising Efforts for Charlie Kirk’s Family Surge
Following the tragic death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday, a wave of support from Americans has resulted in millions of dollars donated to his family through various online fundraising platforms.
The GivesEndgo platform has reported over $2.8 million raised through campaigns aimed at supporting Kirk’s family. According to the company, one of these campaigns has set a record for raising the most money in the shortest period.
“GivesEndgo has always provided a space for immediate response to crises. Just hours after Charlie’s heartbreaking death, friends and supporters established a campaign,” a spokesperson shared.
“What we observe is a strong desire for people to act swiftly when tragedy occurs, and crowdfunding has become one of the primary avenues for that.” This immediacy, perhaps, reflects how connected individuals feel to these events.
Heather Wilson, co-founder of GivesEndgo, noted, “We are often reminded of the personal pain behind every campaign. Our role is to maintain a secure platform where people can unite during difficult times. When people focus on the tragedy, we don’t see it as pressure; we see it as an opportunity for hope and community.”
Wilson pointed out that the outpouring of American generosity in times like these often transforms sadness into action.
“When faced with tragedy and feeling powerless, people find comfort in giving. It’s a real way to show love, solidarity, and care,” she explained. “We even have a prayer button alongside the donation option for those who are unable to contribute financially but want to offer hope and encouragement.”
Other fundraising efforts have emerged on GoFundMe, where a spokesperson indicated that campaigns are underway to aid Kirk’s wife and children, as well as create a permanent memorial at Utah Valley University. Students and members of the Turning Point USA chapter are among those organizing these efforts.
“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy, including the Kirk family. At GoFundMe, ensuring a safe and trusted platform is our top priority,” the spokesperson added. “Our team works quickly to verify each fundraiser related to this devastating incident, ensuring funds reach the right beneficiaries.”
GoFundMe has a dedicated team responsible for reviewing each campaign to ensure legitimacy. They emphasize the need to clearly identify who is organizing the fundraiser and their relationship to the beneficiaries. So far, a verified campaign has raised more than $12,000.
If a fundraiser cannot be verified, the platform allows for its removal and refunds for donors. GoFundMe’s “zero tolerance” policy for fraud or misuse was reiterated in their statements.
“We are collaborating with campaign organizers to collect information and complete necessary verifications. We appreciate everyone’s help in keeping our platform safe,” the spokesperson said.
Kirk, known as the founder of Turning Point USA, was speaking at an event at Utah Valley University when he was shot on September 10. He later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
President Donald Trump was the first to publicly confirm Kirk’s death, discussing it on social media.
During a Friday appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Trump announced that a suspect is in custody, expressing confidence in law enforcement’s progress: “I think we have him with high certainty… he was essentially someone who knew him.”
Utah officials and the FBI confirmed during a press conference that the suspect, identified as Tyler Robinson, is a 22-year-old resident of Utah. Trump expressed his hope for the death penalty should the suspect be convicted, elaborating on how authorities located him with assistance from a former member of the Secret Service and the suspect’s father.
