In the past 12 months, a record number of illegal alien sex offenders have been arrested in Maryland, a state with several sanctuary jurisdictions.
Friday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Announced The 153rd arrest of an illegal immigrant sex offender in Maryland was made in August when Madai Gamaliel Amaya, 36, an illegal immigrant from Honduras, was arrested in Montgomery Village.
Amaya was convicted of second-degree rape in Montgomery County in August 2009 and was subsequently deported from the United States by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in July 2013. Amaya was deported from the United States again in November 2018 after illegally crossing the southern border.
As a fugitive, Amaya crossed the border illegally for a third time and returned to Maryland. ICE agents arrested him in August and he is being held in custody awaiting deportation from the United States.

Henry Argueta Tovar, a 19-year-old illegal immigrant from Guatemala, Convicted A Charles County Circuit Court judge sentenced a defendant charged with second-degree rape in July to 20 years in prison and five years of probation.
However, the circuit court suspended all but 190 days of Argueta Tovar's sentence.
