Isack Hadjar’s Future Secured with Red Bull

Earlier this week, Red Bull announced that Isack Hadjar will return to the RB22 for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, marking his comeback after a three-race hiatus due to a wrist injury.

On Wednesday, the team revealed additional details regarding Hadjar’s position for the 2027 season.

Red Bull confirmed that they have extended Hadjar’s contract, ensuring his place alongside Max Verstappen for the upcoming season.

Team principal Laurent Mekies expressed excitement about continuing their collaboration with the young driver, stating:

“We’re very excited to continue our journey with Isack. Since joining us at the start of the year, he has been superb on and off track, especially considering this is only his second Formula 1 season, which made extending his contract an easy decision.”

Hadjar shared his own enthusiasm about the future with the team, saying:

“From the moment I signed, I set out to dedicate myself to the team, and with the support of Laurent and everyone in Milton Keynes, I’ve been able to justify the faith they’ve had in me. I’m constantly looking to learn and push myself further every single day, which only makes me more excited about what lies ahead.”

Red Bull also took to social media to celebrate the news, posting videos featuring Hadjar, including one from the “wrist clinic.”

The team has been looking to solidify the seat next to Verstappen for some time now. Initially, it seemed they had found the right match in Sergio Pérez. Pérez played a crucial role in helping Verstappen clinch his first Drivers’ Championship in 2021 and contributed significantly to securing Constructors’ Championships in 2022 and 2023. However, after re-signing Pérez midway through the 2024 season, they ultimately decided to part ways, seeking a new teammate.

This led to experiences with Liam Lawson and then Yuki Tsunoda in 2025.

Hadjar earned his chance for 2026 after a strong debut season with Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, which included a podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix. Despite his wrist injury causing him to miss three races, he adapted well to the new generation cars, finishing in the points in all but three of the races he has participated in this year.

This includes a standout performance at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Red Bull’s recognition of his results and the promise of his potential are part of why they chose to reward him with this contract extension.
