Red Bulls’ Cinderella run ends with crushing MLS Cup loss to LA Galaxy

The New York Red Bulls entered MLS Cup as underdogs, but could not beat the odds.

New York couldn't overcome a two-goal deficit early on as the LA Galaxy won 2-1 on Saturday to take the league championship.

Josef Paintsil (9 minutes) and Dejan Jovezic (13 minutes) got the Galaxy off to a fast start at Dignity Health Sports Park, and despite a push from the Red Bulls, they were unable to score the equalizer. I couldn't.

Sean Niels scored a goal in the 28th minute for the Red Bulls, but it wasn't enough to qualify for their first MLS Cup appearance since 2008.
