I still want more Red Sox.
The Red Sox are not over this week after signing Alex Bregman into a three-year, $120 million deal.
“We've talked about winning in the last few years, and this is something we haven't done,” manager Alex Cora told reporters on Saturday. “I think the front office spoke, and we spoke as an organization at the end of last season. [concluded] You need to be more aggressive in the offseason and run.
“So far, we've done a good job, but we haven't stopped. We're not finished yet. We're still trying to improve our roster, the most important thing. I think the guys in the clubhouse understand that.”
The Red Sox also signed free agency with Walker Buhler and Aroldis Chapman, swapping Garrett Crochet from the White Sox this offseason.
They finished third in Al East with an 81-81 record last year, missing out on the third consecutive season of playoffs.
Obviously, they are determined to avoid the fourth.
The Bregman deal will have an opt-out after each of the first two seasons.
He was a two-time All-Star and was crucial for Astros' World Series titles in 2017 and 2022.
He posted an emotional goodbye message to Houston fans on Friday.
