Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran has been suspended for two games for making anti-gay slurs at a heckling fan at Fenway Park.
Duran’s suspension will begin Monday against the Texas Rangers.

First on ESPN Reported disciplinary action.
Duran made the remark while coming to bat in the top of the sixth inning of the team’s 10-2 loss to the Houston Astros on Sunday. A fan yelled at Duran that he needed a tennis racket. Duran yelled “shut up” before uttering the derogatory remark.
He apologized in a statement after the match.
“During tonight’s game, I used some really bad language in response to a fan,” Duran said. “I am very sorry about how much I offended and disappointed so many people, and I apologize to the entire Red Sox organization and most importantly the entire LGBTQ community.”

“Our young fans should be able to look up to me as a role model and tonight I simply failed to live up to that responsibility.”
He apologized in a statement after the match.

Duran was named to the All-Star team for the first time this season and through Monday he led the major leagues with 36 doubles and 13 triples, while batting .291 with 14 home runs.
