Redefinition of pro-life, ‘religious’ cowards promoting it

Many Christians define pro-life as protecting the lives of unborn children, but over time the meaning of the term has changed and has made inroads in the church.

“They’re pushing for restrictions on abortion, Roe v. Wadeand all that stuff, they wouldn’t say restrictions are good.” Allie Beth Stuckey In “Relatable,” we hear from Seth Gruber, founder of the 1916 Project.

“They say, ‘Well, I’m pro-life overall,’ or ‘I’m pro-life from womb to grave,’ but what they actually mean is that they support liberal immigration laws and are against the death penalty but are in favor of abortion,” Stuckey adds.

“The redefinition of pro-life is a war that’s been going on for probably a decade or more,” Gruber agrees. “Progressives who call themselves Christians but act as completely anti-god, atheist, materialistic progressives have tried to influence people like David Platt, Matt Chandler, Russell Moore, Lecrae, Jackie Hill Perry, TD Jakes. Shall we continue?”

These progressives have been able to influence people by twisting God’s Word, and this has manifested in ways other than abortion.

“You have to get the vaccine because you don’t want people to die, you have to love your neighbor,” Gruber scoffed, adding, “What they’ve done is defined pro-life from the protection of life in the womb to what they call the quality of life outside the womb.”

Gruber said this was something that was pushed by Russell Moore, a former member of the ERLC, the political arm of the largest Protestant denomination in the United States, and now editor-in-chief of Christianity Today.

“Many of these people,” Gruber explains, “have had a tremendous influence on their followers to embrace this new redefinition of pro-life, so those who fight everywhere don’t fight anywhere. So how on earth are we going to end the killing of babies in the womb if being pro-life means we have to do all these other things that are supposed to improve the quality of life outside the womb?”

“It’s so important for us to be clear about what pro-life actually means and to resist it, because I’ve lost so many friends and seen so many people cave in over the past few years because we’ve accepted this new redefinition,” he added.
