After redistricting, Georgia's 6th Congressional District is poised to flip its party representation system.
The district will be represented by Republican Rich McCormick, who was first elected in 2022.
He is currently running to represent the 7th District, currently held by Democrat Lucy McBath.
McBath is running alongside Republican Jeff Criswell in the 6th District election.
Mr. McBath was first elected in 2018 and is expected to win that election. Mr. McBath was re-elected in 2020.
She received more than 60,000 votes in the spring primary, while her opponent only received 12,000 votes. Mr. McBath also faced multiple challengers in the primary, but Mr. Criswell ran unopposed.
Even if redistricting dramatically changes the representation of some districts, it is unlikely to materially change the composition of Georgia's House of Representatives (9-5 Republicans).
When it comes to policy, Criswell and McBath have very different policy focuses.
Criswell stated on his campaign website. He is described as a “conservative leader who brings a common-sense, centrist perspective.”
His priorities include the economy, ending illegal immigration, and making America healthy again.
“We have to stop spending money we don't have,” Criswell told Center Square. “The national debt is out of control and slowly but surely reducing the debt must be a priority. We are very pleased that RFK Jr. has joined the Trump team.Eat Healthy Be mindful of your lifestyle.”
He added that he supports school choice and parental rights.
Criswell said his life experiences as a teacher and entrepreneur make him the perfect candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives.

“I'm not a politician. I've never run for office and I'm completely new to politics,” Criswell said. “I am operating from the perspective of someone who has been walking with the Lord for 47 years, and I intend to bring fresh new energy to the House.”
McBath lists “LGBTQ+ rights'' and “women's rights'' as her top priorities.
“We must continue our fight for equality and justice while protecting the LGBTQ+ community,” McBath said. says on her website. “Republicans across the country have begun acts of unconscionable discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community, which is why we must do everything in our power to pass nondiscrimination legislation at the federal level.”
Since first entering Congress in 2018, McBath has prioritized gun violence protections and health care.
“We are more determined to continue fighting in their name for a better, safer America without fear of gun violence,” McBath said in a social media post.
