According to Politico, Richard Neal's office said the lawmaker's son is employed by a lobbying firm, tax matters are decided by his committee, and the two do not discuss public affairs. The lawmaker claimed he did not know.
“Brendan Neal has never lobbied Congressman Neal’s office or the Ways and Means Committee,” Jack Chamberland, Richard Neal’s communications director, told Politico. “Those who want to understand the congressman's values should look to the policies he has championed that have made profound changes in the lives of average Americans, such as tax credits for families with children and green energy. new incentives to boost American manufacturing, and higher taxes on the ultra-wealthy.
