Ryan Phillippe isn’t a fan of all the Hollywood “nepotism.”
Philip, 49, has two children, Ava and Deacon, with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon, 47. Witherspoon also has a son, Tennessee, with her ex-husband Jim Toth.
Ava and Deacon both chose to follow in the acting footsteps of Phillippe and Witherspoon.
“She’s kind of getting her feet wet, you know?” Phillippe told Extra about Eva’s foray into acting. “She’s taking her time and she’s figuring out exactly what she wants to do.”

Philippe pointed out that there are other industries, not just Hollywood, where people follow in their parents’ footsteps.
“That’s what always frustrates me about the whole nepotism thing with the industry,” he explained. “You know, so many people grow up and end up doing more or less what their parents did. … For me, when people talk about the children of actors and entertainers; I get mad all the time. Yeah, of course they were brought up that way.”
The Cruel Intentions star emphasized that the “friendliness” of Hollywood star children helps prepare her to handle the different aspects of a career in the spotlight.
“By the way, that familiarity allows them to deal with some of the difficult things in this industry,” Philip explained. “You’re a thick-headed person. There’s a lot of rejection and bad things said about you. It’s not all celebratory.
“These kids have grown up watching the sets with Reese and me. I think it’s a natural thing.”

While Eva is trying her hand at an acting career, Deacon has chosen to focus more on music after appearing in Never Have I Ever in 2022.
Deacon released his debut album “A New Earth” in 2023. He attends New York University and studies music.
“I’m so proud,” Phillippe previously told Entertainment Tonight. “He’s trying to go to music college. That’s his main focus. What he wants to do is acting, and he’ll do it depending on his desire for it, but his focus is mainly music. It is.”
Eva, now 24, graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and has worked as a model with Pat McGrath, Ivy Park, and Draper James.

Phillippe reflected on his “easy” co-parenting relationship with Witherspoon in an interview with Fox News Digital. The former couple married in 1999 but divorced in 2008.
“We never really struggled,” he explained. “Even after we separated, we were both very dedicated.
“It made it easier. The kids came first,” Philip added about the children. “And in sticky situations like this, where children are often used as pawns or as a way to hurt the other parent when that is not the case, we will not do any of that. It was.”

Philip recognized the importance of friendship.
“We never spoke ill of each other,” he said. “And we have always stood together and supported them, but now they are both adults.
“But she and I have a friendship and we still keep in touch about different things in their lives and it’s going well.”
