Reggie Miller calls out Kenny Smith over Sabrina Ionescu comments
Reggie Miller and Kenny Smith had a tense exchange during NBA All-Star Saturday Night when they called a one-on-one 3-point shooting contest between Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu.
After Curry’s 29-26 win on two shots from the NBA 3-point line, Smith said New York Liberty star Ionescu was the WNBA’s top scorer despite matching all three NBA teams’ high scores. He said he should have taken the shot from the 3-point line. Right before the points contest.
After Curry won, Smith said, “I should have shot from the 3-point line, where the girls shoot.”

“Why would you set boundaries like that for her?” Miller, the younger brother of women’s hoops pioneer and Hall of Fame player Cheryl Miller, shot back.
“That’s the game. They have small balls, right?” Smith responded, later adding, “There’s a reason golf has a women’s tee and a men’s tee.” .

Miller responded, “No, shooter’s shot, isn’t that what you mean?”
He continued shortly after. “Good job, Sabrina!” Don’t let anyone set boundaries on you like Kenny did. ”
Mr. Miller continued to blame Mr. Smith, later adding: “Well, according to you, you just want her to play with her dolls.”
Smith denied that, repeating, “No, I just want her to shoot from where she shoots.”

It was an awkward exchange during the broadcast, and Smith’s comments in particular drew criticism from many on social media that night, including 76ers star Joel Embiid.
