Reggie Miller continues to be a target for Knicks fans, even from the commentator’s seat.
As a TNT analyst and former rival back in the late ’90s, he drew mixed reactions during a recent broadcast of the Pacers’ nail-biting 108-105 overtime win against the Celtics.
Fans noticed when Miller made some questionable calls during the game.
Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Train pointed out, “Reggie Miller isn’t exactly hitting the mark with his commentary in these closing minutes.”
He even admitted, “I tend to just say whatever comes to mind and often correct myself later.”
Notably, Miller criticized Jalen Brunson for not going for a layup in the game’s final seconds, presenting that missed opportunity as a turning point.
At one moment, he bizarrely suggested the Knicks should consider PJ Tucker, despite the fact that the forward has only played a couple of games this season after being released by the Clippers.
Tucker’s track record shows he has participated in only 34 out of 246 games over the past three years with multiple teams.
Local broadcasts at Madison Square Garden will cease after the first round of the playoffs, meaning fans will miss out on hearing legends Walt “Clyde” Frazier and Mike Breen.
Many viewers expressed their frustration with Miller’s commentary during Game 1. One fan, tweeting during the game, remarked, “One of the worst parts of the playoffs is having to listen to Reggie Miller every other night.”

Another viewer quipped, “Reggie Miller is so bad he has to watch most of the games on mute.”
Despite the criticism, it’s worth noting that Miller is paired with the well-respected Kevin Harlan as his play-by-play partner.
This isn’t Miller’s first run-in with Knicks fans; he famously got under their skin during a second-round playoff series against the Pacers last year, recalling a dramatic win 20 years ago when he scored eight points in just 8.9 seconds.
Knicks fans will have to endure more of Miller’s commentary as their next game on Saturday will be aired on ABC.
