Nick Reiner Faces Murder Charges in Court

On Wednesday, 32-year-old Nick Reiner appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom, charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Notably, his family was absent from the gallery, a striking detail given the gravity of the allegations.

Reiner is accused of stabbing to death the parents of Hollywood icons Rob Reiner and Michelle Singer Reiner at their home in Brentwood on December 14. The absence of his brother and sister was hard to miss, especially since Nick wasn’t mentioned in a recent public statement from the remaining family members—a hint of an apparent rift.

The brothers expressed their grief, stating, “The horrific and devastating loss of a parent… no one should have to go through,” speaking fondly of their late parents as “best friends.”

Meanwhile, it seems the rest of the Reiner family is staying in Malibu during this troubling time. Witnesses noted that Nick’s siblings, Romy and Jake, have been seen enjoying the beach, perhaps trying to find some normalcy amid the chaos of the situation.

The drama deepened further when Nick’s arraignment was postponed for the second time after his high-profile lawyer, Alan Jackson, officially resigned as his attorney. Interestingly, Jackson had recently won a significant case by securing an acquittal for his other client, Karen Reed, who faced murder charges in 2025.

During the court proceedings, Jackson explained, “At this time, I feel I have no choice but to resign as attorney and seek relief.” He refrained from discussing the reasons behind his decision, citing ethical considerations.

Jackson noted that Kimberly Greene would take over as Nick’s attorney, and a public defender is prepared to step in as well. Reiner has agreed to return to court on February 23 for his arraignment.
