South Carolina Releases Updated List of Top Tax Delinquents

An updated list of South Carolina’s most significant tax delinquents has been made public. The South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) refreshed the list on October 15, 2025. You can find it online, and it’s updated every quarter. In fact, this initiative was launched in 2020, offering a revised version of the previous Debtors Corner. The aim is to foster transparency and accountability in tax collection.

So, how does one find themselves on this list? Well, SCDOR tries to reach out to these individuals and businesses well before going public, sending numerous letters and making calls. Yet, if there’s no response, tax liens are filed, making the debts public knowledge.

Frequently Asked Questions from SCDOR:

How often is the list updated?
The list is revised quarterly. If someone makes a partial payment or incurs additional penalties or interest, the totals may differ from what’s listed. Some may have already settled their debts since the last update, and those individuals will be removed when the list is next refreshed.

Who is excluded from this list?
Individuals or businesses that have filed for bankruptcy or arranged payment agreements with SCDOR are not included. Additionally, debts under GEAR or offset programs are also excluded.

If you’re on the Top Delinquents List and want to discuss payment options or make a payment: You can pay online or send your payment using the voucher that was mailed to you.
