Washington, DC needs a coat of fresh paint that literally, in a more specific way – Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) knows where to start.
Georgia House of Representatives is introducing legislation to restore the name of Liberty Plaza, which was renamed Black Live Matter Plaza by local DC officials amid the 2020 George Floyd Riot.
Clyde's bill follows President Donald Trump's call to bring crime-ridden districts back to a state worthy of government for the world's most powerful nation.
“President Trump is 100% correct. We have to clean Washington, DC for Americans,” Clyde said in a statement dedicated to Breitbart News. “I think removing the BLM Plaza should be part of this important effort.”

He added: “It's been a time since Congress exercises its constitutional authority over Washington's issues to remove BLM Plaza and rename the road to Liberty Plaza. Our capital must act as a beacon of freedom, patriotism and safety.
In February, Trump said, “I think we should take over Washington, D.C. — I think we should govern the Columbia district,” accusing him of failing to deal with crime and homelessness or refusing to refuse.
The Legislature has the authority to consider any DC law that could even completely overturn any DC law that granted districts local autonomy under the conditions of the Home Rules Act of 1973. Trump says the failure of districts to carry out its basic functions darkens the image of the country's capital when hosting foreign leaders and requires intervention.
“They're not at work,” Trump said. “Too many crimes, too many – too many tents on the grass – these spectacular grass… you can't let it happen. You can't have a tent in all your beautiful things – your once magnificent square and grass.”
Clyde, who pushed the law to completely remove DC's home rules, argues that restoring the city's image requires eliminating the DC government-approved message that undermines the value of Core America.
“BLM is radical and we're reimbursing police organizations, but we're not repaying the police country. But the left has allowed this deeply divided slogan to embarrassingly dye the streets of the American capital for nearly five years.”
A free “police refund” message was also drawn on Street BLM Plaza before it was paved into the city.
In 2023, President Joe Biden signed the law introduced by Clyde, overturning the amended criminal law of 2022, weakening penalties for crime despite the ongoing crime outbreak in the country's capital.
