Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Florida) is calling on the State Department to revoke F-1 and J-1 student visas for Chinese nationals. In a letter dated July 20 to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, she emphasized the urgency of this action, citing recent information regarding the Chinese Communist Party’s interference in U.S. elections. She urged the immediate suspension and cancellation of all student visas held by Chinese nationals currently enrolled in American colleges and universities.
The State Department responded to Fox News Digital’s inquiry by stating, “We generally do not comment on Congressional communications.” A spokesperson added that the Trump Administration has consistently prioritized national security and public safety in the visa process.
In a recent address, former President Donald Trump claimed that during the 2020 election cycle, China executed what he described as the largest election data breach in history, leading to the fraudulent acquisition of 220 million U.S. voter files. He stated that this sensitive information could potentially facilitate various illicit activities related to voting.
Luna reiterated her position in her letter, insisting that revoking all Chinese student visas is a necessary measure in response to state-sponsored efforts to compromise the integrity of American elections.
She also called for a review of current Chinese student visas and requested a halt on issuing new ones until a thorough assessment of the situation and a comprehensive review of vetting processes at higher education institutions can be conducted.
