Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) has called on House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) to investigate perjury allegations against President Joe Biden’s Secret Service director, Kimberly Cheatle.
“You asked me earlier whether the Secret Service was aware of the threat,” Luna said. Said Cheatle made the remarks Monday during a House Oversight Committee hearing on the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

“You said, ‘No, they were not aware of a threat,’ yet communications from law enforcement who were in some of the group chats indicated that in fact at approximately 5:59 p.m. the Secret Service was aware of a threat,” the congressman added.
“I think we’re confusing the difference between ‘threat’ and ‘suspicious,'” Cheatle countered, to which Luna replied, “But according to the group chat, you knew at 5:59pm, right?”
“Suspicious person,” Biden’s Secret Service chief responded.
Luna then asked Comer to consider filing perjury charges against Cheatle.
Mr. Chairman, it is my opinion that, based on some of the testimony today, [Cheatle] Perjured [herself] In some cases, I will ask my staff to do a full review of the records and, if they find it to be true, I will ask them to file perjury charges against the director.
“I’ve spoken to my colleagues and I’ve spoken to you face to face, and it’s extremely frustrating that you’re here basically impeding our ability to get answers to the American people,” Luna added.
He also said Cheatle’s failure to stop a sniper from shooting Trump at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13 has left all lawmakers “uneasy” and “making us all easy targets.”
“I don’t think any of us in Congress feel safe with you in charge,” Luna said. “I think with you in charge of the Secret Service, we all become easy targets.”
“But more importantly, it sends a message to our enemies that we are not protected. We are one of the most powerful countries in the world, so this effectively makes our country less safe,” he added.
“As a result, I formally ask you to resign,” Luna declared. “I [the] I share the same views as my Democratic colleagues.”
As Breitbart News reported, Cheatle, who was appointed by Biden in August 2022 and reports to impeached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, has faced calls for him to resign but said he has no plans to do so.
Notably, it was recently reported that top Secret Service officials have refused President Trump’s requests for increased security over the past two years.
