This week, Republican Rep. Tim Burchett voted to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress and called for an investigation into former intelligence officials who misled the public in an election-swaying letter in October 2020 about Hunter Biden’s laptop.
The Tennessee congressman also showed off his comedic talents.
On Monday, online supporters of Burchett, who claim his “humor is a national treasure,” vowed to protect the congressman from a Ukrainian watch list that lists people who hold explicitly prohibited views.
Burchett recently joined Blaze Media and other American individuals and organizations on a list of Americans who have expressed explicitly prohibited views about U.S. aid to Ukraine published by a publication linked to the Biden State Department.

Initial response “So what about my wit, charm, intellect and boyish good looks?” This comment offended one X user, who called the congressman a “traitor” to the state and America.
Member of Parliament
Replied“Your sweet words melt on my heart like butter and honey on a warm biscuit and leave an indelible mark on the digestive tract of my heart.”
Burchett clearly didn’t meet his weekly joke quota in this brief online exchange.
Burchett shared a video with X on Wednesday in which he can be seen walking past a young man wearing khaki shorts as he heads out to report to his duties at the Capitol.
“Congressman, will you promise me you will oppose a nationwide abortion ban?” asked the young man, who Burchett identified as a “paid Democratic activist” who “trys to frame me every day.”
Burchett wasted no time in replying, “Can you put some sunscreen on those legs? Oh, I’m gonna have to wear welding goggles in here because my legs are completely white.”
The former Knoxville mayor delivered his usual monologue in a video, but publicly acknowledged that he realized he had forgotten to record it. When asked about the Republican’s “copying Biden,” Burchett said:
offered Description note: “However, I do know where the White House soft serve ice cream machine is located (chic)”
But Burchett didn’t seem to be joking.
Asked House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) on Tuesday urged in a letter to launch an immediate investigation into Secretary of State Antony Blinken and “certain former intelligence officials” for “interference in the 2020 presidential election.”
James Clapper, Michael Hayden, Leon Panetta and other former intelligence officials from the Obama administration wrote an open letter on October 19th suggesting that the New York Post’s reporting on Hunter Biden’s incriminating laptop “bears all the classic hallmarks of a Russian intelligence operation.”
The 51 signatories allowed Politico, other media outlets, and then-presidential candidate Joe Biden to infer from their letter that the Washington Post story was untrue and “consistent with some of the key methods Russia has used to interfere in our democracy for years.”
The signatories of this election-affecting letter have proven unrepentant when repeatedly questioned about the veracity of Hunter Biden’s laptop and the accuracy of the Washington Post’s reporting.
In his letter, Burchett cited details of the Post’s reporting, particularly the laptop, which he said ” [Hunter Biden] It sought to provide access for Ukrainian energy officials to meet with then-Vice President Joseph R. Biden.”
In addition to the veracity of the laptop, which led to Hunter Biden’s conviction this week, Burchett also cited testimony from former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell that Blinken was “involved in the creation” of the intelligence officials’ letter.
Morell told Congress he reached out to Blinken after coming across the damning article in the Washington Post on Oct. 14, 2020, and that as a result of the exchange, he began drafting the letter with the aim of releasing it before the Oct. 22 presidential debate, where Biden made extensive use of the statement.
“These findings suggest that the Biden campaign conspired with former intelligence officials to mislead the American people and influence the 2020 presidential election,” Burchett wrote.
