Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) swiped his chances on Monday at a stop in Tampa, Florida.
Limited to running in 2026, DeSantis spent several weeks as a candidate to replace his wife, Casey DeSantis.
But on Thursday, Trump approved Donald, who had not declared himself a candidate in the 2026 Florida Governor's race.
“I know Byron very well. I've seen him being tested at the best and most difficult levels. He's a complete winner!” Trump said, “Run, Byron, Run Please!”
DeSantis on Monday worked to support Donald for Trump and criticized Donald for not playing a role in DeSantis' work in Florida.
His comments didn't seem to have phased Donald, who took the High Road.
“It's an honour to have full and full approval from President Trump,” Donald simply said of the governor's comments in a statement to Breitbart News.
DeSantis' choice of criticism of Donald – a federal official who has no official role in the Florida state government as a lawmaker – is rare.
“The reality is we won in Florida,” DeSantis said. I said“A man like Byron, he wasn't part of the victory we remained here this year. He wasn't part of that. He was campaigning in other states. And I'm doing that, and that's fine, but it's fine.
Desantis appears to refer to Donald's work being campaigned on behalf of the Trump campaign. Donald was the top Trump representative throughout the campaign, travelling the country and putting dozens of stops on behalf of Trump.
The governor did not refer to his own large national campaign trip. Unlike Donald, however, DeSantis, who ran to the other side of Trump for a Republican nomination, traveled on behalf of his own campaign.
DeSantis himself was attacked in Florida to spend several weeks outside the state where he was tasked with governing. A month and a half remain before the Iowa Caucus, Desantis Promotion He has already visited each of Iowa's 99 counties.
DeSantis played his wife who could surpass his own turn as governor.
“Whatever we accomplished, she could take her to the next level,” DeSantis said.
