Crockett Critiques Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders

Representative Jasmine Crockett from Texas has taken aim at her fellow Democrats, specifically targeting Senator Bernie Sanders and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She accused them of using their public tours, which they refer to as the “Fighting Oligarchy Tour,” as a platform to promote themselves rather than genuinely engaging with party initiatives.

In a recent meeting with fellow Democrats, including Rep. Maxine Dexter from Oregon, Crockett shared her ambitions to secure a senior position on the House Oversight Committee. During this discussion, concerns were raised about potential conflicts with Ocasio-Cortez, echoing challenges the latter faced when she first joined Congress.

Crockett sharply contrasted her approach with that of Ocasio-Cortez, emphasizing her reluctance to “burn bridges” and her desire to unite the Democratic Party. While she acknowledged that the tour could be seen as a compelling idea, she ultimately characterized it as primarily benefiting Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez’s personal brands. “Oh, that’s about them, right?” she remarked.

In light of these tensions, Crockett decided to withdraw her candidacy for the committee position, which sent ripples through the swing district Democrats. Interestingly, she has a history of making provocative remarks about Republicans, including disparaging comments about Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Crockett also found herself in a public spat with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, which escalated when Greene mocked Crockett’s appearance. Their exchange became increasingly heated, with both sides trading barbs, as Crockett criticized Greene’s appearance in return.

As of now, neither Ocasio-Cortez nor Sanders has replied to requests for comments regarding Crockett’s statements.
