Rep. Gabe Vasquez explains vote against Laken Riley Act

Rep. Gabe Vasquez, DN.M., promoted a vote for the Laken Riley Act at an event in April, defeated President Donald Trump’s administration, deporting Kilmar Abrego Garcia, Illegal immigration“Testing and stretching the structure of our democracy in places we have never seen before.”

New Mexico Rep. Gabe Vazquez spoke with members at the April 16 event to explain why he voted against the Laken Riley Act.

Texas Republican Rep. Tony Gonzalez defended the bipartisan bill in a statement to Fox News Digital Friday, as the district includes the longest land for its Mexican neighbors.

Vazquez defeated the Trump administration to deport illegal immigrants, including Abrego Garcia, and argued that US citizens were not safe to be taken from the country if the Trump administration became “their path.”

“Once again, outside Democrat Gabe Vasquez chooses to prioritize illegal criminal aliens about the well-being of hardworking New Mexicans,” Zach Bannon, a spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), told Fox News Digital. “He has abandoned all the abandoned common sense and is heading towards the radical left, betraying those who will leave him from his position next year.”
