On Thursday, Greene (R-Ga.) announced the resolution. She accused Democrats of making “treasonous” statements and being foreign agents over her recent comments on Somalia.

The resolution takes particular issue with comments by Omar (D-Minn.), who vowed to protect Somalia’s interests from within the U.S. government. hinted that she would intervene in U.S. policy on behalf of the Somali government.

In speaking about her policies on the House floor, Greene emphasized that all members must honor their oath of office.

Greene’s censure resolution also calls for Omar to be removed from the House Budget Committee and the House Education and Labor Committee.
