Republican Reps. Wesley Hunt of Texas and Byron Donald of Florida detailed some of President Joe Biden’s missteps at home and abroad on the “Sage Steele Podcast” on Tuesday.
For example, Donald said that under the Biden administration, “we
To seek refuge Seven U.S. embassies. This has never happened in the history of America. Never. This is our weakness on the world stage. This is the situation.”
According to the Daily Signal
accountingBut the reality is much worse.
The Signal reported that the Biden administration has overseen 11 embassy evacuations as of March, more than any previous administration. President Barack Obama oversaw a total of eight embassy evacuations, the report said, making him the second-highest-ever.
But Biden’s State Department
Set of different numbers It concerns evacuation orders or permits issued under the current and previous administrations.
“When you’re weak, and our enemies know you’re weak, they attack you,” Donald continued. “It’s no different than a schoolyard bully. What happens if you’re a coward and the bully knows he can get away with it? He’ll come asking for your lunch money, every day, every week… until you hit him back.”
After lawmakers stressed that America’s adversaries perceive the country as weaker under Biden, Hunt laid out a story of how to do things better — one that has ostensibly changed slightly each time it’s been told.
“If you harm a single hair on an American’s head, I will kill you.”
“I’m going to tell you my favorite President Trump story,” Hunt said, “my favorite story of all time.”
“When President Trump was still president, and he was negotiating with the Taliban, he wanted to withdraw from Afghanistan, but he wanted a conditional withdrawal. I mean, [the Taliban] “As long as they follow our instructions and adhere to our rules, we will slowly withdraw our forces,” Hunt said.
He suggested that President Trump and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Taliban leaders to discuss the withdrawal, with only a translator in the room.
“President Trump looked at the Taliban leader and said, ‘I want to get out of Afghanistan, but it’s going to be a conditional withdrawal,'” Hunt said. “And then the translator translated that.” [Trump] “If you harm a single hair on an American’s head, I will kill you,” he said.
Hunt claimed the interpreter was afraid to relay Trump’s death threats and instead sat silently.
“And Trump said, ‘Tell him. Tell him what I said.'” [He] “He reached into his pocket, pulled out a satellite photo of the Taliban leader’s home and gave it to the leader,” Hunt said.
Steele interjected, “Shut up!”
“He got up and left the room,” Hunt continued.
Trump
Said In 2022, Fox News reported that he sent photos of his home to Taliban co-founder Abdul Ghani Baradar and said, “‘If you do anything, we will hit you harder than any country has ever hit you before.'”
A year ago, Trump
Said Talk radio host Hugh Hewitt said he threatened Baradar:
If you do anything bad to the United States of America, if you do anything bad to our civilians, our citizens, or if you do anything that’s out of the ordinary, you know, they’ve been fighting for a thousand years, that’s out of the ordinary, because you’ve been at war. If you do anything bad to America or its citizens that’s out of the ordinary, I will give you a blow that’s more severe than anybody’s ever been in the history of the world. You will be hit harder than anybody’s ever been in the history of the world, anybody’s ever been in the history of the world. Let’s start with the exact location and the exact town. It’s here. I think I repeated the name of the town. That’s where we’ll start.
Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows
Reportedly In his book, “Chief’s Chief,” he notes that in a phone call in early 2020, Trump vowed to destroy Baradar’s village if the Islamist group threatened Americans or U.S. interests.
According to Meadows, Trump said, “So, Mullah, where is your village? We know where it is. We know it’s the village of Weetmac. If you ever lay a hand on one American, I will destroy it first. I will not hesitate.”
Hunt’s preferred narrative about Trump seems to have changed over time, but the core implication remains the same: Trump intended to help make America safer through the threat of American revenge.
“That’s the definition of strength,” Hunt continued. “That’s what I’m talking about. So you can imagine that there’s that feeling around the world. If you have an embassy in another country, no one wants to touch it, because they’re scared it will be attacked.
Moab “Over their heads. That’s what President Trump does.”
