Rep. Darrell Issa (R-California) wrote Wednesday to the Inspector General of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) asking the agency to investigate the findings of the Judiciary Task Force on Federal Weaponization, Revealed the current staff of the spy agency.[advancing] Biden campaign’s “partisan political interests” for the 2020 election.
A 65-page “interim report” compiled by the Judiciary Commission, the Intel Commission, and the Federal Weaponization Task Force, released Wednesday, says at least one CIA official is now in error. It details how he was allegedly involved in obtaining signatures for the statement that revealed it. Former intelligence officials signed and questioned Hunter Biden’s laptop series published in the magazine. new york post in 2020.
Issa’s letter calls on the IG to investigate violations of laws prohibiting executive branch employees, i.e. law enforcement and National Security Agency employees, from participating in political activities.
Issa’s letter to IG begins:
I am writing to your office requesting an investigation into the involvement of CIA personnel in the Hunter Biden laptop cover-up in the final days leading up to the 2020 presidential election. Recently uncovered information provided to congressional investigators suggests taxpayer funds and CIA staff may have been used to support Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign .
As you know, the Hatch Act calls for a clear dichotomy between federal employees’ constitutional and statutory obligations and activities related to political or electoral campaigns in which federal employees engage. Federal law, detailed in Federal Law No. 5 USC § 7323(b)(2)(B), further restricts employees of national security agencies, including federal law enforcement and the Central Intelligence Agency.
“These employees, even off-duty, cannot play an active role in political activity.”
Issa added that the investigation by the IG is necessary to further the work of parliament (a central focus of the subcommittee) to assess how government power is being abused.
“All necessary measures are taken to enable Congress to effectively consider whether taxpayer funds and intelligence services are being improperly used to further the partisan political interests of Democratic congressional candidates and Democrats. We ask for your prompt review of the materials,” the letter concludes.
Issa told Breitbart News that he had asked IG to seek separation from the administration in investigating issues with apparent conflicts of interest, adding: No one believes it can be done,” he said.
“No one believes that the Biden administration can investigate itself with credibility and transparency. This is why the Inspector General exists. to provide a review that we can do,” he told Breitbart.
“The CIA knows the truth here. One or more of the CIA officials committed extreme Hatch Act violations in the 2020 election and either committed or did not commit fraud.” The fact that our Commission is being jammed with questions that are simple in nature only strengthens our resolve to uncover the truth,” he continued.
