Jordan on Republican Strategy Leading Up to Midterms

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, asserted that Republicans need to highlight their achievements and draw attention to what he described as the “socialist lunacy” of the Democratic Party as they approach the midterm elections.

“I genuinely believe we can win. There are challenges, yes. But we need to communicate to voters what we’ve accomplished since they elected us. We promised tax cuts, and we delivered. We committed to securing the border, and we did that. We’ve also looked into work requirements for able-bodied adults in the welfare system, which is definitely a positive step. For the first time in our tax code, we’ve included a school choice component—this is beneficial for families,” Jordan shared during an interview with Breitbart Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow at the 2026 Republican Jewish Coalition National Leadership Summit on August 30.

“While we have fulfilled our promises in these areas, we know that prices are still too high,” he continued. “This situation is largely due to the erratic policies of the Biden administration. Thanks to President Trump, costs have stabilized somewhat, but they still remain high.”

“It’s crucial we acknowledge this, but we also need to tell voters the truth: we have kept our word. We understand that costs are a concern, but putting Democrats back in charge could lead to even more alarming consequences,” he added. “We have to be straightforward with them. Do you want the socialist agenda of the Mamdani/Democrats? If you don’t, we need your support at the polls. That’s how we can succeed, and I truly believe we can.”

Jordan cautioned that if Democrats regain control of Congress, they would misuse their power against their opponents.

“If they win, here’s what everyone needs to realize—they claim they won’t attempt to impeach President Trump a third time. But they likely will. They can’t help but pursue that,” he remarked. “I’m optimistic they won’t win, but if they do, that will definitely be on the table.”

“They will probe into everything—from the first family to cabinet members, and they will investigate potential nominees for 2028. This includes looking closely at the vice president and Secretary Rubio,” he elaborated. “Their motivations will likely be purely political. This is the weaponization of government, exemplified by investigations for political gains.”

Jordan stressed that if Republicans keep control, they will prevent the left from advancing policies driven by their disdain for America.

“Without what we have, negative outcomes can arise. You lose freedom, the Bill of Rights, and free markets—bad things follow,” he warned. “You could sum up this midterm election in just two sentences: they’re chaotic, and we’re not. We must clearly show that to the voters.”
