Rep. Lauren Boebert's oldest son Tyler faces child abuse charges, according to reports.

A police report indicates that Tyler, the eldest son of Sen. Lauren Boebert, is facing child abuse charges linked to an incident involving his grandson.

The 20-year-old, who is the son of the Republican lawmaker and her ex-husband Jason, was charged with misdemeanors on July 11 in Colorado. Reports from the Windsor Police Department were cited in a Saturday article by Denver Westward.

Senator Boebert responded to these charges by suggesting they stemmed from a misunderstanding concerning the supervision of her young grandson, which led to the child’s recent departure from their home.

The 38-year-old senator, who represents Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District, described the situation as a “one-off incident,” emphasizing that the child was not harmed.

Child Protective Services has conducted meetings with family members regarding the matter.

“I truly believe this is an isolated incident we’ve handled as a family,” Boebert stated.

In 2023, Tyler’s girlfriend announced that they were expecting a child, which was notable since he was only 17 at the time.

This incident adds to a history of legal troubles for Tyler, the eldest son of a notable figure in the MAGA movement.

In September 2022, he was involved in a car accident where he flipped his father’s SUV, resulting in injuries to passengers. Initially cited for careless driving, he later reached a plea deal in which a ticket for having “defective headlights” was dropped.

In January 2024, Tyler reported an incident to the police, claiming that his father had assaulted him. The police report stated that Jason Boebert was arrested after allegedly pushing Tyler to the ground and forcing his thumb into his mouth.

At the time, Tyler was already under a 24-month probation period due to a guilty plea in October 2024 for attempted identity theft. This plea was part of a deal following his arrest in February 2024 on multiple criminal charges, which included serious felonies related to a series of thefts in Colorado.

A lawsuit filed by one of his victims, a 33-year-old woman recovering from brain surgery, stated she received nothing back after being robbed. Additionally, there are claims that Tyler made and shared an inappropriate video involving one of his accomplices.

As part of his probation, Tyler was assigned 80 hours of community service and prohibited from using controlled substances, as reported by Westword.

It’s currently unclear if the new misdemeanor charge could impact his probation status.

Tyler Boebert is set to appear in Weld County Court on September 8 for the child abuse allegations.
