Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) Breitbart News Daily that There are currently five known assassination teams in the United States, three of which are foreign, attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump.
Asked for his thoughts on the second assassination attempt on the former president, Gaetz said, “It's tragic. It could have been avoided.”
“Given the threat environment, I am beginning to get the impression that there is not enough armed protection in place to support President Trump,” he said, noting that he recently met with a senior Department of Homeland Security official who said there are at least five hit teams in the U.S., “and at least three of them are foreign-owned attempting to assassinate President Trump.”
“And when it comes to that type of activity, I don't think people should be allowed to wait outside his golf course or other property for extended periods of time waiting to get their shot,” Gaetz said, expressing concern that the second suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, had previously been known to authorities at the border upon returning from Ukraine.

“And Customs and Border Protection [CBP] “His story about recruiting freedom fighters from around the world to fight in Ukraine seemed too suspicious. When asked how he was financing it, he replied, 'Oh, my wife pays for it.' That seemed so odd to us that CBP officials sent Ryan Routh to the Department of Homeland Security's Investigative Division to find out what was going on, but they refused to even move forward with the investigation,” Gaetz said. “They dropped the investigation and kept him in the country. We have a lot of questions about it.”
Host Mike Slater asked Gaetz about the claim that there were five domestic hit teams, to which Gaetz reiterated that he was “aware of at least five teams within the country that are trying to assassinate Mr. Trump.”
“And, you know, three of them that we know of are foreign-born. Two are domestic-born and they require armed protection that we don't currently have around a former president,” the Florida congressman said, emphasizing that senior Department of Homeland Security officials met with him and informed him, explaining, “They knew about this and were concerned that the Secret Service was not providing adequate support.”

When asked how it was possible for hit teams to be roaming the streets of the city, Gates responded, “There's not enough surveillance to stop them.”
“My understanding is that three of those teams are foreign-influenced — Iran, Ukraine and Pakistan — and you know, their jobs are obviously difficult to defend. It's a detail job, like a presidential campaign that's running an aggressive campaign,” he said.
Gaetz said the threat was leading to an investigation into whether the proper guard units were in place, including proper sniper teams and proper tactical teams.
“There were instances when personnel were cut from the Trump team to make way for Jill Biden and John Bolton. I question whether that was appropriate given what we know about the assassination attempt on Trump,” he added.
