If President Joe Biden cannot run for reelection due to cognitive issues, he will not be able to serve out his full term, said Republican Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina, who is introducing a resolution calling on Vice President Kamala Harris to invoke the 25th Amendment to the Constitution and become acting president.
In a post on Sunday, Mace suggested that if President Biden lacks the “cognitive capacity to seek reelection,” he “cannot serve out the remainder of his term.”
“If she doesn’t resign, Kamala should invoke the 25th Amendment,” the South Carolina Republican argued. to add“What’s good for the goose is good for the pair of geese because of the consistency…”

Mace, who won a highly-anticipated Republican primary for the state’s 1st Congressional District last month, also announced he plans to introduce a resolution calling on Vice President Kamala Harris to convene a Cabinet meeting to declare Biden unable to serve, invoke the 25th Amendment to the Constitution, and assume the role of acting president.
The resolution states that “for many years, [Biden] He was diagnosed as having experienced severe cognitive decline and was mentally unable to carry out his duties. Introduced As early as Monday.
This issue is the president’s Biden suddenly announced his intention to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race on Sunday afternoon, promising to provide more details about his decision at a later date.
“Serving as your president has been the greatest honor of my life,” Biden said in a statement posted to X. “While I intended to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and our country that I step aside and focus solely on fulfilling the duties of my presidency for the remainder of my term.”

In a later statement, Biden said he “fully endorses and supports Kamala to be our party’s nominee this year.”
He then called on Democrats to unite, writing, “It’s time to come together and defeat Trump.”

In addition to Sen. Mace, several other Republican senators, including Sens. Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma, Jim Banks of Indiana and Rick Scott of Florida, have also called for invoking the 25th Amendment. Sen. Scott announced Sunday that he will introduce a similar resolution in the Senate.

Earlier this month, Mace Warned A “weak president” Joe Biden and enemies who no longer respect America have put the country in “extreme danger.”
She also questioned who is running the White House as it is “clearly not Joe Biden”, while arguing that it is “essential” for former President Donald Trump to be re-elected, describing him as “the only person who can save this country right now”.
