Rep Nancy Mace pledges to remain strong following Charlie Kirk's assassination

US Rep. Nancy Mace Supports Young Conservatives Following Charlie Kirk’s Death

In a recent interview, US Representative Nancy Mace from South Carolina expressed her commitment to standing alongside young conservatives in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s tragic assassination. This conversation took place just before her address at the Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event at Clemson University.

Kirk, a prominent figure in the conservative movement, was shot and killed at 31 while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University on September 10. He left behind his wife, Erika, and their two children.

Mace emphasized the need to continue advocating for Kirk’s legacy and stated, “I want all young people in South Carolina and across the nation to understand that we stand with them. We are all Charlie Kirk, and they have our support.” She underscored the importance of this effort, saying, “We’re doing this for Charlie Kirk, for the Turning Point, and for the millions who share his vision.” Mace expressed the need to be brave and vocal about their beliefs, respecting freedom of speech and faith.

In light of Kirk’s death, there have been troubling incidents, such as reports of harassment directed at young conservatives during memorial events on campus. Additionally, Clemson University has terminated three professors accused of celebrating Kirk’s assassination.

Mace highlighted the collaboration between Clemson College Republicans and local TPUSA members in urging action against those who made inflammatory remarks about Kirk’s murder. She asserted that individuals who promote violence should not hold positions of influence over students, regardless of their political leanings or beliefs.

Reaching out to concerned parents, Mace reflected on her pride in the young conservatives rallying in the aftermath of Kirk’s death. She remarked, “Today, I feel a renewed sense of confidence in my generation as these young individuals stepped up when it mattered.” She believes it’s essential for lawmakers and educational institutions to safeguard free speech rights in the current climate.

Mace also mentioned an earlier controversy at Clemson regarding a health portal listing an array of gender identities except for male and female, which she criticized as a lack of responsibility from university officials. Although the form has since been removed, she called for ongoing scrutiny to ensure accountability from the university.

In light of the prevailing tensions, she emphasized the necessity of protecting First Amendment rights, stating that intervention by lawmakers and courts is vital for upholding free speech, especially in education settings following the chaos surrounding Kirk’s assassination.
