Texas Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee said: statement She is undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer.
“My doctors have confirmed their diagnosis that I have pancreatic cancer. I am currently undergoing treatment to combat this disease that afflicts tens of thousands of Americans each year,” the congressman said. “I am confident that my doctors have the best plan to target my specific illness. The road ahead will not be easy, but I trust that God will make me strong.”
“We hope that he will make a full recovery and that God will give his medical team the wisdom and skills they need to get through this.”
Lawmakers from both the ruling and opposition parties responded by saying they were praying for Jackson Lee.
