After an ICE agent shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, Republican lawmakers reported that anti-ICE activists attempted to force their way into a Wisconsin office, leading to a domestic terrorism report with the FBI.
Representative Derrick Van Orden (R-Wis.) described the alarming situation on social media, asserting that “individuals driven by anti-ICE sentiment” targeted his Eau Claire office. He noted, “Just hours after ICE officers were violently attacked in Minnesota, our office was confronted by someone shouting slurs, banging on the door, and trying to enter.” His communications director, Grace Kim, stated that security footage captured a man at the door calling staffers “Nazis.”
Van Orden’s office also shared images of a car parked outside with messages like “Your turn!” and “F— ICE” visible on it. Kim mentioned that Van Orden met with FBI Director Kash Patel Thursday morning to report the incident as domestic terrorism, but no arrests had been made by the afternoon.
This incident followed the fatal shooting of Twin Cities resident Renee Nicole Good, 37, by an ICE agent during an immigration check. Video footage reportedly shows Good driving toward the agent before shots were fired into her vehicle. The incident sparked widespread protests, with various Democratic leaders, including New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, labeling the actions of the agents as “murder.”
In another post, Van Orden remarked on the incident, stating that “this is a direct consequence of the Democratic Party’s violent rhetoric,” emphasizing that it has to come to an end. He mentioned that Good “didn’t have to die” and pointed to the inflammatory anti-ICE comments made by some on the left as a contributing factor. He questioned, “What would push a 37-year-old suburban woman to aggressively confront federal law enforcement?” He continued, asserting that the continued vilification of military officers by the left is leading to radicalization.
The FBI has yet to issue a response regarding the situation.
