Replacements for Dalton Kincaid, Sam LaPorta

most of the week fantasy football In response to a recent injury, I routinely perform waiver wire work.

However, we didn't see many injuries to quarterbacks, running backs or wide receivers last week. So instead of chasing this week's standout players who score random touchdowns, we can focus on where we've seen some impact injuries: the tight end position.

While the overall numbers from tight ends haven't moved the needle with any consistency, there will be some key spots to keep an eye on.

The first injury was in Buffalo, where Dalton Kincaid suffered a knee injury that forced him out of Sunday's game. He attempted to re-enter the country, but was ultimately excluded.

“I didn't feel strong enough to run or to go out and protect myself,” he told reporters in the locker room afterward.

Kincaid is scheduled for a team evaluation by team doctors and will likely undergo an MRI scan.

The immediate focus for fantasy managers is Dawson Knox, who replaced Kincaid last season as a reserve player.

Knox has spent his entire career with the Bills and already has a strong rapport with Josh Allen, which would make him an easy fix for both real and fantasy teams.

Kinkaid's overall numbers aren't as strong, but with injuries to Amari Cooper and Keon Coleman, the hope is that Knox and Allen can rekindle their on-field bromance.

Before his injury, Knox averaged about 500 receiving yards and seven touchdowns a season with Allen, and their snap share should return to 70-75 percent.

Detroit may also have lost a top tight end in Sam LaPorta.

LaPorta had already found the end zone on Sunday with a 20-yard touchdown catch, but suffered a shoulder injury that was later described as an AC joint sprain.

After his departure, Brock Wright took over as the primary pass-catching tight end, and Shane Zylstra took over the blocking role.

Wright has always been a part of the first-team offense, so he should pick up the six targets Laporta leaves open.

Do you want to bet on the NFL?

If neither injury is a long-term concern and you still need a tight end, you might want to check out Ja'Tavion Sanders.

The Panthers are clearly auditioning young players for full-time roles in 2025, and Sanders has proven to be a stronger asset than Tommy Tremble and Ian Thomas.

He had an 85 percent snap share over the past two weeks and caught his first touchdown of the season. He should continue to see around five targets per game and is already establishing himself as a red zone threat.

Fine-tuning your fantasy roster is important at this time of year. Whether you're trying to build up depth for the fantasy playoffs or punch your ticket to the big dance, you'll want to consider a stone, even if it's just a few point boost in the tight end position. You need to make sure that you don't leave any behind.
