Mexican police officers pursued the suspects this week as they crossed the southern border into Texas before detaining them at an international port of entry, according to Breitbart News.

The suspect, pursued by Tamaulipas State Police officers, drove through a toll booth and onto the Texas side of the border. According to Breitbart News, the pursuit unintentionally led to a confrontation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents, resulting in the detention of both the suspect and the Mexican officer.

After a brief questioning, US authorities released the Mexican officers, who then walked back to their home country through a different port of entry. Homeland Security Investigations told Breitbart News they were “aware of the situation and are monitoring it closely.”
Violence has been on the rise around the state of Tamaulipas, particularly against police officers, according to another Breitbart News report. reportDrug cartel members clashed with authorities last week, killing two police officers, according to reports. The attacks were reportedly in retaliation for a series of state law enforcement operations in the region to arrest a drug cartel leader named Armando “Al Pajarito” Lopez Garces.
