Despite claims to the contrary, rape, robbery and aggravated assault have soared by more than 40% under the Biden-Harris administration, according to Department of Justice data analyzed by the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC).
The finding is significant because, according to CPRC estimates, violent crime fell by 15 percent under former President Donald Trump's administration.
“Despite the false statements they made,” Trump said. said “Crime in this country is skyrocketing, and we're seeing a new form of crime emerging, and that's called immigration crime,” he said during Tuesday's debate.
According to the Trump campaign, immigrant crime is rampant.

Department of Justice data revealed Thursday that violent crime has soared under the Biden-Harris administration, with rapes up 42%, robberies up 63% and aggravated assaults up 55%, according to the CPRC report.
Just-released data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics’ National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) shows violent crime has skyrocketed under the Biden-Harris Administration. Looking at rape, robbery, and aggravated assault (the NCVS does not measure murder), between 2016 and 2020, violent crime fell 15% under the Trump Administration, and between 2020 and 2023, it has soared 55% under the Biden Administration. How did that change from the year before they took office and the end of Trump’s presidency or the latest year of the Biden-Harris Administration? Even if you take the start of the Biden Administration as 2019, or the average of the five years before COVID (because COVID may have artificially suppressed the numbers), violent crime still increased by 19% (see chart below).
Under Biden, rapes increased by 42%, robberies by 63% and aggravated assaults by 55%.
If we choose 2021 as a benchmark for comparison for the Biden-Harris administration, then we are holding them accountable for the changes that have already occurred in the administration’s first year, but the numbers remain virtually unchanged, except for aggravated assault, which has seen a significant increase in this indicator: violent crimes are up 55%, rapes 42%, robberies 53%, and aggravated assaults 67%.
