Reported gunshot victim recounts frightening events that resulted in an arrest warrant for Antonio Brown

A 41-year-old man, who reportedly experienced a close encounter with bullets back in May, has a notable history with former NFL player Antonio Brown. Their past includes shared efforts for gun control, albeit marred by a recent violent episode.

Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu’s allegations are part of an arrest warrant issued in Miami-Dade County on Wednesday, where Brown faces attempted murder charges.

“Mr. Nantambu claimed Brown kept shooting at him—and, as they say, it might have grazed his neck—out of fear for his life,” reads the recent arrest warrant.

Police are currently searching for Brown, who is believed to have been involved in an altercation outside a boxing event on May 16. Reports indicate he discharged a firearm during this incident.

A Florida Highway Patrol officer noticed Brown with an unidentified individual, but initially couldn’t locate anyone involved.

Nonetheless, two spent shell casings and an empty holster were discovered shortly afterward.

Reviewing the surveillance footage, Nantambu apparently threw a punch at Brown, which sparked a chaotic scene.

According to Nantambu, he has known Brown since 2022; prior to the punch, they exchanged heated words.

In an interview from May, Nantambu stated that Brown called security, claiming he was being attacked.

“He acts hard and then flips the script, blaming CTE for his issues,” Nantambu told an outlet.

Brown, for his part, claimed he was merely defending himself from attempted robbery during the May incident.

“I reacted to multiple people trying to steal my belongings and hurt me. Contrary to what some videos suggest, the police temporarily detained me while I was waiting to give my side,” Brown wrote after the altercation.

The next day, he reassured supporters, saying he was not arrested and intended to consult with his legal team about pursuing action against those he believed attacked him.

Warning: Graphic Video

After the confrontation, as security intervened, it’s reported that Brown grabbed a firearm from a guard and approached Nantambu. According to the arrest warrant, social media footage shows Brown armed and advancing towards Nantambu on the sidewalk.

The video seemingly captures two gunshots fired when Brown was just a few feet away from Nantambu, prompting Nantambu to duck after hearing the first shot.

During their altercation, Nantambu shared that discussions about gun control escalated to physical conflict, eventually leading to both men grappling on the ground.

Authorities arrived on the scene by then, with Nantambu asserting that Brown fled with the weapon, later appearing at Aventera Hospital in Florida to treat his injuries.

Nantambu even provided documentation of injuries, claiming Brown caused visible harm, including blood on the left side of his neck and a broken finger.

He later identified Brown to the police, noting he experienced a “burning sensation in his neck” and expressing gratitude for not being seriously injured.

The two have a complicated history; Nantambu alleges that Brown stole a pendant he designed in the past.

Nantambu also accused Brown of falsely reporting the incident to authorities in the UAE, asserting that Brown claimed he was taken away while Nantambu suffered consequences.

“He tried to take what was mine,” Nantambu recounted, adding that Brown abruptly changed hotels and ignored his calls, acting as if the pendant was lost when Nantambu confronted him.

Nantambu filed a lawsuit against Brown in 2022, winning $968,960, but the verdict was vacated two years later, ultimately leading to the dismissal of the case.

Currently, he’s pursuing $123,600 in federal bankruptcy court. However, the Browns are reportedly contesting the claim, maintaining innocence.

Nantambu expressed some doubt about Brown’s integrity, noting that accusations against him started surfacing, suggesting malicious intent behind Brown’s actions during their conflicts.

He also remarked, “I can’t shake off the feeling that he’d try something irreversible.”
