Reporter assaulted at anti-ICE protest claims disruptors aim to 'prevent' the truth

Jorge Ventura Speaks Out After Violent Confrontation in Minneapolis

Journalist Jorge Ventura addressed a recent unsettling experience on Monday following his coverage of an anti-ICE blockade in Minneapolis. According to Ventura, he was confronted violently by protesters who attempted to take his cellphone and assaulted him, resulting in injuries to his hands.

In a conversation on The Ingraham Angle, Ventura expressed concern about the intentions behind the aggression. “Laura, they’re doing this because they want to stop journalists like me from telling the truth about what’s actually happening on the ground,” he stated. He added, confidently, that the Daily Caller News Foundation remains steadfast in its mission.

The situation unfolded unexpectedly as Ventura approached a makeshift anti-ICE “checkpoint” in south Minneapolis, where protesters were checking license plates and assessing incoming traffic for potential ICE vehicles. While he documented these events, tensions escalated quickly.

“As we started recording, they launched a brutal assault on us,” Ventura recounted. “They shoved me aggressively and even tried multiple times to steal my phone to prevent us from releasing the footage.”

Ultimately, Ventura described the incident as intense, mentioning, “They made my right hand bleed and also attacked my photojournalist colleague.” Footage from the event shows one of the aggressors instructing them to leave, ultimately forcing them towards a vehicle with a demand to “get in the damn car.”

During the interview, Ventura characterized the demonstrators’ perspective, likening it to fighting an oppressive force, saying they felt like they were combating the Gestapo. He noted that the protesters appeared to be mostly white liberals, feeling empowered by local leaders’ rhetoric. Eventually, Minneapolis Public Works and police intervened, clearing away the makeshift barriers set up by the protesters.
