Reporter Questions Keira Knightley on Role Written by JK Rowling; She Appears Unbothered

Keira Knightley Unaware of JK Rowling Boycott

Keira Knightley seems to have taken the news of a boycott against JK Rowling in stride, mentioning she was unaware of it.

During her involvement with the “Harry Potter” audiobook, Knightley, who voiced the character Dolores Umbridge, expressed surprise upon discovering the uproar surrounding Rowling.

She remarked, “I hope we can all find respect” as people navigate these complex discussions.

Speaking to Decider in connection with her new Netflix movie, *The Woman in Cabin 10*, Knightley was asked if she knew about calls for a boycott of Harry Potter.

“I didn’t know that. I’m really sorry,” she responded candidly.

She added, “You know, I think we’re living in a time right now where we have to figure out how to live together, right? And we all have very different opinions.” This reflects a broader sentiment of navigating differing views in society.

The push to boycott Rowling has intensified, particularly following her reaction to a recent UK Supreme Court ruling about the legal definition of womanhood. Following this, Rowling posted a picture of herself smoking, which didn’t sit well with many.

Interestingly, she’s also had some notable disagreements with her former *Harry Potter* co-stars, including Emma Watson, especially regarding transgender issues. It appears the tension isn’t going away anytime soon, as Rowling criticized Watson in a recent post, suggesting she was unaware of her own misunderstandings.
