Republican Ken Calvert wins re-election to US House in California’s 41st Congressional District

Incumbent Republican Rep. Ken Calvert won reelection over Democratic challenger Will Rollins in California's 41st Congressional District, in what observers considered a toss-up.

With Calvert's victory, the current balance of power in the House is 217-207, with Republicans just one vote away from reaching a majority of 218 votes. Eleven races have yet to be called.

This is the second time Rollins, a former federal prosecutor, has tried to unseat Calvert after narrowly losing in 2022. Ross, who is openly gay, is trying to position himself as a moderate candidate who can unite Republicans, independents and Democrats. He has also championed several progressive causes, including climate action and LGBTQ rights.

The district underwent major changes in 2021 through a redistricting process that added more liberal-leaning areas, including parts of Palm Springs and surrounding communities. The resulting redrawn maps turned this historically red district into a battlefield.

Calvert, who was first elected to Congress in 1992 to represent the Inland Empire, is an experienced conservative who has long been influential in the district, which covers parts of Riverside County, including red towns such as Corona and Temecula. It is a faction. Mr. Calvert has built his political position on strong national security and pro-business stances.
