Senator Ron Johnson Pushes for Transparency Following Trump Assassination Attempt
Senator Ron Johnson, a Republican from Wisconsin, has been actively advocating for transparency and answers regarding specific events that have, quite frankly, raised eyebrows. Recently, during an appearance on the “Steve Deace Show,” he expressed that he and many Americans are still seeking clarity.
It’s been over a year since an individual named Thomas Matthew Crooks made an assassination attempt at a rally for former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. It’s pretty shocking to think about it, really, and yet, the public knows so little about the attempts on Trump’s life and those involved.
So, what did Johnson do? Well, he took matters into his own hands.
“After the incident in Butler, we quickly contacted local law enforcement. Our investigative team gathered a lot of what we know… We put together a detailed timeline,” Johnson told Deace. “We even published a preliminary report that highlighted all the flaws in Butler’s Secret Service security plan. Shortly thereafter, the FBI took over the investigation, which left many feeling frustrated.”
He went on to say, “When Trump won the election, he figured he’d look into this, appoint people to investigate it, and ultimately share the findings with the public. But then, here we are, approaching the one-year mark, and still, nothing has really been disclosed.”
In an effort to press for answers, Johnson sent out what he characterized as a “friendly summons” to the FBI for all documents related to the assassination attempt in Butler. “I reached out to Kash Patel, reminding him that people deserve to understand what transpired during that second assassination attempt. There are a plethora of unanswered questions that need addressing,” he stated.
It should be noted, though, that Johnson’s summons doesn’t actually cover that second assassination attempt.
He added, “I get that it’s a tricky situation, but still, I genuinely think this is something the Trump administration should prioritize—getting to the bottom of this and making their findings known.”
