Republican legislators criticized Democrats for allegedly endangering Americans by reducing funding for Department of Homeland Security staff.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller were among the GOP members who targeted Democrats for their support of undocumented immigrants despite TSA agents potentially working without pay due to a funding shortfall for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
They also referenced a case involving a Venezuelan illegal immigrant, released in the U.S. under the Biden administration, who has been charged with killing 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman in Chicago, Illinois.
According to John Binder from Breitbart News, late last week, Jose Medina-Medina, a 25-year-old Venezuelan illegal immigrant, was taken into custody by Chicago police. He faces serious charges including first-degree murder and illegal firearm possession.
Reportedly, around 1 a.m. on March 19, Gorman was out with friends near Toby Prinz Beach in Chicago’s Rogers Park when Medina-Medina approached and started shooting.
Gorman was fatally shot in the head and declared dead at the scene.
“Democrats admit they are ‘creating’ it. The American people are suffering to protect criminal illegal aliens and to keep our borders open,” Johnson commented. He also shared his thoughts on the situation on social media.
Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas) expressed his outrage, stating, “An 18-year-old American with his whole life ahead of him was murdered by a foreign invader released into our country by Joe Biden and protected by J.B. Pritzker’s sanctuary policies.” He noted that Democrats are forcing Americans to endure long airport lines, impeding efforts to deport individuals like the suspect.
Miller remarked, “Rivers of American blood spilled by foreign plunderers that the Democratic Party has gleefully embraced.”
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Florida) emphasized that Gorman shouldn’t have been at risk, saying, “She was an American college student out for a walk with friends. Every American should be able to do that without fear of being attacked.”
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) stated, “Sheridan Gorman’s killer was an illegal alien who should never have entered our country. Joe Biden’s open borders policy and Governor Pritzker’s failure to accept assistance are reasons she is no longer with us.”
