Recent Approval Ratings for Congress
According to a recent Fox News National Survey, Congressional Republicans are enjoying higher approval ratings compared to their Democratic counterparts this year.
Currently, 33% of registered voters approve of the Democrats in Congress, while 66% disapprove, which marks a slight increase from 30% in March. In contrast, Republican approval stands at 38%, down from a peak of 43% six months ago, with 61% disapproving.
This dip in Republican approval seems to be internal, as only 76% of self-identified Republicans express approval, a drop from 88% in March. On the flip side, Congressional Democrats have gained the approval of 58% of self-identified Democrats, up from 49% six months prior.
Trump’s Ratings on Key Issues
The survey also reflected on various political figures, showing that approval ratings for both Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and Ice are at 49%, while President Donald Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. received 46% approval.
Voter Opinions on Policy
Various policy issues were also explored in the survey. A significant majority supports photo ID voting at 84% approval, with only 16% opposing. Other popular policies include prohibiting stock trading among Congressional members (75% support), banning mobile phones in K-12 schools (65% support), and allowing mail-in voting for U.S. citizens (63% support).
One area where voters are more divided is the ban on candy and soft drinks from SNAP programs: opinions are split 50/50. There’s notable opposition to allowing transgender students the choice of bathroom, with 34% in favor and 64% against. Similarly, 31% believe flag burning should be legal while 67% disagree.
Interestingly, there is bipartisan agreement on several issues, like banning stock trading by Congressional members and prohibiting cell phones in classrooms. Daron Shaw, a Republican pollster, noted the surprising consensus across party lines on these significant issues, suggesting that the president’s focus on them is not random—topics like voter ID, flag burning, and children’s safety evoke strong patriotic sentiments.
Trump’s Approval on Specific Issues
On issues like border security, Trump received a 57% approval rating, followed closely by crime and public safety at 50% and immigration at 47%. His ratings were lower for matters concerning Ukraine (40%), the economy (39%), Russia (36%), tariffs (36%), and the cost of living (32%). Overall, 46% of voters approved of Trump’s presidency, with a static 54% disapproving since June.
On Flag Burning
A significant number of voters—36 points—believe flag burning should be illegal, despite a notable increase in those who feel it should be legal, rising 10 points over 20 years. This rise appears to be influenced largely by younger voters and small conflict increases among various groups.
