Trump Focuses on Legislative Goals Ahead of Independence Day
On Friday, Donald Trump expressed confidence in delivering key legislation that Republicans wish to enact before Independence Day.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump noted that Republican senators will be working throughout the weekend to finalize the bill.
We’re focused on achieving substantial tax cuts, eliminating taxes on tips and overtime, and ensuring no taxes impact Social Security for the elderly. We are also committed to strong border security and enhancing our military, which I rebuilt during my previous term.
He urged the House to send the bill by July 4th, insisting, “we can make that happen.”
“It’s going to be a momentous celebration for our country. We are the ‘hottest country in the world’ now, and I think last year we were seen as a bit of a joke,” he stated.
This statement followed a briefing Trump held in the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room, where he praised a recent Supreme Court ruling aimed at preventing district judges from misusing injunctions.
During the briefing, Trump cautioned that Senate Democrats would face a significant tax hike of 68% for not supporting the major legislative initiative.
“Instead of backing a tax cut, they’re opting for a 68% tax increase. They’re working to undermine Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid,” he argued.
The proposed “one big beautiful bill” represents a crucial aspect of Trump’s presidential legacy if it passes. It includes significant tax reductions, removing taxes on tips and overtime pay.
Moreover, this legislation aims to expedite the completion of Trump’s border wall, potentially leading to the removal of at least one million undocumented immigrants. It also builds on promises made regarding border security and seeks to modernize the air traffic control system. According to the White House, 1.4 million undocumented immigrants have been identified as having access to Medicaid.
