On CNN’s “Politics” segment on Friday, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) stated that Republicans are prepared to “support” President Donald Trump by moving forward with the 2025 Trade Review Act.
A joint resolution to sanction new tariffs is necessary, enabling Congress to eliminate tariffs through a resolution that remains unapproved.
Host Dana Bash remarked, “Long-serving Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley and Democrat Maria Cantwell have introduced a bipartisan proposal necessitating Congressional approval for new tariffs.”
Schumer expressed, “Clearly, it enjoys considerable bipartisan backing. I believe it’s an excellent bill. It’s the first occasion I’ve observed a Republican endorsing Donald Trump. They often accompanied him, despite recognizing his policies were mistaken. So I would applaud that. Among the prominent Republicans, they certainly merit recognition for this legislation.”
