Republicans ‘Reap What They Sow’ by Defending Gun Rights: Euro-Left

Responding to the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump, left-wing European politicians have condemned gun rights in the US, and the former leader of Britain’s Labour Party in the European Parliament said Republicans are “reaping what they sow” by defending the Second Amendment.

The assassination attempt at a rally for 2024 presidential front-runner Donald Trump, which left one audience member dead and two seriously injured, is already being used as a political point-scoring move to promote left-wing gun control policies in Europe.

European leaders, who have been strong critics of Donald Trump, were quick to condemn the political violence against the Republican front-runner, while some leading politicians, such as Richard Corbett, used the opportunity to promote their own policies.

Corbett, the former and last leader of the European Parliament Labour Party (EPLP), which represented the British Labour Party in the European Parliament before Brexit, Said In the wake of the former president’s shooting Sunday, the Republican said: “Will this make any Republican want to change America’s gun laws, which have led to widespread gun ownership and roughly 50,000 gun deaths a year?”

“No way! They reap what they sow,” Corbett added.

Richard Tice, Deputy Leader of the Reform UK Party and MP for Boston and Skegness Said He called the Labour leader’s comments “disgraceful”.

Following the assassination attempt on President Trump, Guy Verhofstadt, a leader of European officials and former prime minister of Belgium, also spoke out against the Second Amendment.

Globalist leader and long-time member of the European Parliament Said The shooting shows that “the time has come to rebuild an open, peaceful democracy, one where people can respectfully debate and find a future together, not one ruled by money, guns and hatred.”

Verhofstadt, a leading opponent of Brexit and Trump, condemned the assassination attempt just a day before the shooting. brand After President Trump met with Hungarian Prime Minister Orban to discuss a peace plan for the Ukraine war, he called President Trump a “traitor to liberal democracy.”

The European official added in his message: “Let’s fight back more than ever to ensure that democracy prevails!”

Verhofstadt also used the assassination attempt on Trump to further his main political goal: strengthening the power of Brussels through the centralization of the EU.

“As American democracy collapses, Europe must prepare for Trump’s return,” he said. Said“We must rely solely on ourselves in defense, diplomacy and security. [and] The global economy is getting stronger. To survive, the EU needs a complete reform… [and] EU leaders need to act now!”
