Brian Stern Discusses U.S. Mission to Rescue Iranian Air Force Pilot
Brian Stern, the founder of Gray Bull Rescue, shared insights on a bold U.S. operation aimed at rescuing a missing airman deep inside Iran. He highlighted the significant role played by the CIA’s deceptive tactics, which effectively misled Iranian search efforts for over a day. Stern noted the integration of U.S. special operations and intelligence teams to secure airmen from the Kogiruye and Boye Ahmad regions.
A seasoned operator spoke about the intense moments following the successful capture of a target in such high-stakes missions. “There’s a lot of adrenaline,” he reflected, explaining that after successfully completing their objective, teams often celebrate, but this is usually just the start of a more challenging phase. For those on the ground, it can feel like a turn from success to struggle.
“When we say ‘jackpot’ over the radio, it means that we are still positioned behind enemy lines, albeit with our target in tow,” Stern elaborated. He noted how his anxiety levels rise as excitement fills the command center, reminding his team to remain vigilant and focused on getting everyone back safely.
Stern’s comments came in the wake of the operation that located and retrieved a U.S. military weapons systems officer from a downed F-15E in Iran, following an extensive search while Iranian forces also combed the area. The pilot had ejected in Khuzestan province and was rescued that Friday morning.
In the midst of everything, President Trump hailed the success of the recovery mission, referring to it as a “Easter miracle.”
