Researchers identify the personality traits that might enable men to have longer endurance in bed.

Research indicates that men who are less impulsive may experience longer durations in bed. A study carried out by Turkish researchers suggests that qualities like planning, patience, and a calm approach to situations significantly contribute to reduced instances of extreme premature ejaculation.

In contrast, men who act more on impulse tend to struggle with stamina during intimate moments. The study involved 80 men aged between 18 and 45, categorized into four groups based on their sexual and psychological challenges: those with no issues, those who ejaculate before sex, and those with various durations after penetration.

The findings revealed that men with quicker ejaculation times scored higher on impulsivity measures, especially in terms of urgency and acting on impulses. This group also exhibited a tendency toward seeking new sensations and displayed lower commitment to tasks.

The researchers proposed a link between low self-control and rapid ejaculation, as those who find it difficult to manage their urges often act without consideration, making it hard to delay sexual gratification. Furthermore, anxiety and depression were more prevalent among those affected by premature ejaculation.

On average, men experiencing this sexual problem scored significantly higher on measures of anxiety and depression compared to their peers without issues. Typically, erectile dysfunction accompanied by mood disorders is treated with antidepressants. However, experts recommend strategies aimed at improving self-regulation, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, as potential aids for men seeking to increase their stamina.

Premature ejaculation is defined as climaxing earlier than the norm, affecting up to 30 percent of men in the UK. Studies indicate that men generally take about five and a half minutes to orgasm during sex; however, approximately one in three achieves this within three minutes.

Various psychological and physical factors, such as stress, depression, and anxiety, can contribute to this condition. Interestingly, kegel exercises, which involve the tensing and relaxing of pelvic floor muscles, have been suggested to enhance intimacy duration by an average of two minutes.

A study from 2014 examined a group of men performing kegel exercises three times a week for 12 weeks. Published in the journal Therapeutic Advances in Urology, the research involved 40 men who had struggled with premature ejaculation for many years. By the end of the study, a remarkable 83 percent managed to control their ejaculatory reflex better, prolonging their intimacy duration by approximately two minutes and forty seconds compared to their starting average of about 39 seconds.
